"Where there is great love there are always miracles." - Willa Cather
Mother Teresa, Lady Diana Spencer, Annie Lennox, Bob Geldof, Richard Branson and Bill Gates are famous for the love they have shown to others. OK Richard Branson and Bill Gates have both made millions and may have trodden on a few people on the way up but they have given millions to charity. By shaking the hand of a man suffering with HIV/Aids Lady Diana Spencer changed the way we look at aids suffers. Watch any episode of a secret millionaire and you will soon see "Where there is great love there are always miracles." So how will you show love today, what miracles will you create today with a simple smile or a simple touch?
Today is world's Aids day. So maybe it is a good day to show a little love.

"We are here to add what we can to life, not to get what we can from life." - Sir William Osler
Annie Lennox started singing because she enjoyed it. She performed for the joy it brought to others. Now that made her famous and rich but that was not why she did it. Now she is rich and famous she is using that wealth and fame to spread awareness of HIV and Aids. So what will you add to life today?

"One must learn by doing the thing. For though you think you know it, you have no certainty until you try." - Sophocles
To do is to know. You can read how to do something but it is not until you do it that you are sure you know it. You do not know life until you live it. You must live, you must take action to know you are alive.

"For the most part, fear is nothing but an illusion. When you share it with someone else, it tends to disappear." - Marilyn C Barrick

"A hunch is creativity trying to tell you something." - Anonymous
We have all heard of poker plays looking for a tell. It is claimed that Phychics do what they do by cold read (They make an open statement then look for your reaction and focus in on what gets a positive reaction). We all have the ability to notice very small changes in people. You may not be consciously aware of the change but your unconscious mind has picked up on it. So next time you get a hunch run with it for awhile you may be surprised and how much your unconscious mind is picking up about the world around you.

"You can if you think you can." - George Reeves
OK this is not completely true, If you jump of a tall building believing with every fibre of your body that you can fly you will still make a mess in the street below. However, the opposite is very true "You can't if you think you can't" so don't limit yourself with your thinking. If someone else can do something you can probably do similar if you just believe you can.

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear." - Ambrose Redmoon
A long time ago a primitive man was sitting safe in his cave. He could hear wild animals (Bears, wolfs and big cats) out side. So he stayed safe in the cave. Until one morning he woke up hungry, he was hungrier then he had ever been. So he left the safety of the cave and found food. For primitive man it took the fear or starving to death to over come the fear of the outside world. So what will it take for you to face your fear?

"When a man points a finger at someone else, he should remember that three of his fingers are pointing at himself." - Louis Nizer
The unconscious mind does not know who you are talking to. So it takes everything you say personally. So may I suggest you keep your words kind today. Regardless of who you are talking to.

"Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish." - John Quincy Adams
The Cheddar Gorge and the Grand Canyon were both created by a river with patience and perseverance. They both took hundreds of years to create but the river kept running and slowly the obstacle was removed.

"Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you want." - Italian Proverb
So you took action and you started something. You kept at it. However, for some reason you still did not get what you wanted. So what did you get? In short you gained experience. You know more then when you started. You are more then when you started. Disappointments and set backs do not destroy us they make us more then we were.

"Every heart sings a song, incomplete, until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song. At the touch of a lover, everyone becomes a poet." - Plato

"Well done is better than well said." - Benjamin Franklin
So the script has been written, The story boards have been prepared, The actors and actresses hired, the costumes have been designed and made, the locations have been selected, the sets have been built and the cameras and lights are in place. After all of this we do not have a film. Everything has been prepared but the director has not shouted "Action". You can plan, prepare and dream all you like but until you take action nothing will happen.

"The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for ourselves." - Helen Keller
Have you ever thrown a party? You find the venue. You hire the entertainment. You send out the invitations. You sort out the catering. You dress the venue and then in a blink of the eye the party is over and the guests leave. Tired you start to tidy up. It's been a long day but can you remember a time when you where much happier? As you sweep the hall you can't help but smile.

"You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try." - Beverly Sills
When you start any new venture it will either be successful or unsuccessful. You may taste victory or defeat. This is the risk we all take when we do anything. The only way out is to die to stop living. So to live we must take risk. To live a full life you must take great risks. To taste victories you must have tasted defeat. Life is about taking action.
Thought of the day 15/12/2011
"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.'" - Mary Anne Radmacher
I said yesterday "Life is about taking action." You have to turn up each morning prepared to live. So when things get hard you can go and hide under the duvet or you can show real courage by turning up ready to try again.
Thought of the day 16/12/2011
"Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero." (Seize the day, trust not to the morrow). - Horace
Today is the day that could change your life. So look for the opportunity each day and seize every opportunity you see.
Thought of the day 17/12/2011
"It does no harm just once in a while to acknowledge that the whole country isn't in flames, that there are people in the country besides politicians, entertainers, and criminals." - Charles Kuralt
So we watch the news every night only to be told how bad things are. However, that is not the whole picture, every day people all over the planet are helping each other. At the moment the Salvation Army, Local radio station and Crises and many other charities are doing all they can to ensure the most vulnerable of society have a happy Christmas.
In all the chaos in the run up to Christmas can I suggest you stop every once in awhile and look at all the good in the world.
Thought of the day 18/12/2011
"Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity." - Seneca
Thought of the day 19/12/2011
"Forever is composed of nows." - Emily Dickinson
This is the moment that everything can change, right here right now is the starting point for the life you want. Live in the now and really be aware of everything around you. What was happening before you started to read this is now done with it is in the past, let it stay there. The future has not happened yet. Now is the only thing that matters so live in it and enjoy it.
Thought of the day 20/12/2011
"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Pentagon has twice as many toilets as it needs. It is said that President Roosevelt wanted to demolish the building because of this fact and the injustice it signifies. The Pentagon was open in 1943 in state of Virginia. In Virginia in the 1940's racial segregation was still legal. However, Roosevelt had banned racial discrimination in the military in 1941 so the Pentagon should not have been designed for racial segregation. Roosevelt had the "White only" signs ripped down. Along with white only Toilets there were white only restaurants, the designer considered it just for the non-white restaurant to be hidden in the basement.
What injustice will you allow to stand today?
Thought of the day 21/12/2011
"How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world." - William Shakespeare
Today is the winter solstice, the shortest day or the longest night depending how you view things. From now on each day is a little longer there is a little more light each day. Over the next week almost every religion or culture in the northern hemisphere will celebrate and start to look forward to the spring. So time to celebrate Amaterasu, Beiwe, Brumalia, Chawmos, Deygān, Dōngzhì, Goru, Hanukkah, Hogmanay, Inti Raymi, Junkanoo, Karachun, Koleda, Lá an Dreoilín, Lenæa, Lohri, Lucia, Makara Sankranti, Maruaroa o Takurua, Midvinterblót, Midwinter, Modranicht, Mummer's Day, Perchta ritual, Rozhanitsa, Shab-e Chelleh, Sanghamitta Day, Saturnalia, Şewy Yelda, Sol Invictus, Soyal, We Tripantu, Yule, Zagmuk, Ziemassvētki and Christmas. So celebrate the beginning of the end of dark night by spreading a little light, love and knidness

"When making your choice in life, do not neglect to live." - Samuel Johnson
You can plan all you like, you can dream the most wonderful dream, you can remove almost every risk from you life. By this method you will remain alive but you will not live. Enjoyment comes from taking risks. Enjoyment comes from doing, taking action. To live a life you must do, take action and enjoy.
Thought of the day 23/12/2011
"Love is a medicine for the sickness of the world; a prescription often given, too rarely taken." - Dr. Karl Augustus Menninger
Christmas is coming the goose is getting fat. Our thoughts are of family and gifts under the tree. But before you stuff yourself with turkey. There is just time to do one kind act. Is there a friend you have not called in a while? Is there an elderly neighbour you have not seen for a few days, should you check up on them and see if they are OK? Is there a Hospice, Hospital or Children's home who could make use of one more gift or even an hour of your time?
Thought of the day 24/12/2011
"We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be." - Kurt Vonnegut
Frank William Abagnale managed to fly over 1,000,000 miles on over 250 flights to 26 countries for free by pretending to be a Pan Am pilot. At the age of 16 he managed to con a tailor into giving him a Pan Am Pilot's uniform. He then used the system of Deadheading (An agreement between all the American airlines to ensure all airline staff can get home (or where they need to work) for free) to fly across America and around the world. Now I'm not suggesting you con your way around the world but I am suggesting you show the world the person you want to be.
Thought of the day 25/12/2011
"Mi taku oyasin. (We are all related.)" - Lakota belief.
Merry Christmas to you all. This is a time for forgiveness; to forgive others we must first forgive ourselves.
Thought of the day 26/12/2011
"Life is mainly froth and bubbles Two things stand like stone - Kindness in another's trouble. Courage in your own." - Adam Lindsay Gordon
So as we start to think about 2012 we should all make a resolution to "Be kind". Yes we should be kind to others and that is the easy kindness to show. We should also be kind to ourselves. We are normally our worst critics. In 2012 give yourself credit for all the good things you do and be willing to take a risk to get the things you truly want and deserve.
Thought of the day 27/12/2011
"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right!" - Henry Ford
on the 06/12/2011 the thought of the day was "You can if you think you can." - George Reeves. I said then that if you think you can fly you will probably still not fly. However, how you think about a situation has a huge bearing on the outcome. If you expect the worst then you will probably get it. So expect the best from life, Believe life is on your side and start enjoying what you get from life.
Thought of the day 28/12/2011
"A wise man will make haste to forgive, because he knows the true value of time, and will not suffer it to pass away in unnecessary pain." - Samuel Johnson
So what baggage are you going to carry forward to 2012. Can I suggest you use the last four days of 2011 to drop any baggage at the door of 2011. Forgive what needs to be forgiven, Forget what needs to be forgotten, admit the mistakes you made and heal what is broken.
Thought of the day 29/12/2011
"A certain amount of opposition is a great help to a man. Kites rise against, not with the wind." - John Neal
Why do some people like roller coasters? It because a little bit of fear is a good thing. When you feel a little out of control you remember that you are alive. It is when you are pushed you learn most. So yes we want life to be easy but a flat calm is a boring place to be. Sailors call the seas at the equator the Doldrums due to the lack of wind. We need the odd storm in our lives.
Thought of the day 30/12/2011
"Think for yourself and let others enjoy the privilege of doing so too." - Voltaire
We are not sheep. We do not have to follow the crowd. Look at the evidence and decide what it means for yourself. You may get it wrong some of the time but when you get it right you will learn much more about yourself then you have ever learnt.
Thought of the day 31/12/2011
"May you live every day of your life." - Jonathan Swift
So we end another year. Did you survive it or did you live it. Yes you can play it safe in 2012 and you will probably get to 2013 but you will have all the same regrets as you have this year. May I suggest you live 2012. Decided what you really want and take action on your dreams. Live each day and enjoy the ride that is 2012.
