Quote Of The Day

"Happiness, it seems to me, consists of two things: first, in being where you belong, and second - and best - in comfortably going through everyday life, that is, having had a good night's sleep and not being hurt by new shoes." - Theodor Fontane

 November's Thought of the Day

Thought of the day 01/11/2011

"If you're going to be able to look back on something and laugh about it, you might as well laugh about it now." -
Marie Osmond

There is always a funny side to life; the lighter side of things. Even in the darkest of events it's there. It may not make the darkness go away but it will act as a small light in the darkness and will help to start the process of moving on. So look for the laughter and move into the light.

Thought of the day 02/11/2011

"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot." -
Eleanor Roosevelt

Modern man started in the plains of Africa. They could have stayed safe in the surrounding they knew. However, they slowly moved across Asia then Europe and Russia and before long humans were found in every part of the world. They overcame great oceans, deserts, extreme cold and wild animals to achieve this. The greatest thing they had to overcome was their own fear.

Thought of the day 03/11/2011

"Positive thinking won't let you do anything but it will let you do everything better than negative thinking will." -
Zig Ziglar

Why try something that cannot be done. If you say something is hard then you will find that is it hard. So believing something is easy does not make it possible but it helps us to keep trying.

Thought of the day 04/11/2011

"
Always try to do something for the other fellow and you will be agreeably surprised how things come your way -- how many pleasing things are done for you." - Claude M. Bristol

I have talked about the idea of free hugs, pay forward and random acts of kindness before. All of these ideas are based on doing things for others without looking for rewards. However everyone who has done these has found they have had many rewards. The light of love and friendship is a powerful thing. As soon as you start sending the light of love out it comes back to you many fold.

Thought of the day 05/11/2011

"Fun is when you enjoy what you're doing; work is when you'd rather be doing something else." -
Art Buck

What is fun?

What is work?

What is a chore?

We will all have unique answers for these questions. Some people love working in the garden but others hate it. Some people claim to love ironing. So how can you do more of what you find fun? Maybe you need to get someone else to do what you find a chore!

Thought of the day 06/11/2011

"The best way to escape from a problem is to solve it." - Alan Saporta

Thought of the day 07/11/2011

"Love one another and you will be happy. It's as simple and as difficult as that." -
Michael Leunig

Forgiveness, respect and friendship. These are the things that make life better. I had a friend and we were talking one day and they said "Why don't people just sit down and talk when they fall out?" Well we fell out and they have not talked to me since. I would give anything to spend five minutes with them over coffee to resolve the issue but it isn't going to happen. They are determined to make this friendship hard work.

So who have you fallen out with recently? What are you willing to do today to mend the bridges. Write that letter; make that phone call or send that text. Someone is waiting for you to mend what is broken

Thought of the day 08/11/2011

"
To be content with what one has is the greatest and truest of riches." - Cicero

"So how can you tell me you're lonely,

And say for you that the sun don't shine?

Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London

I'll show you something to make you change your mind" - Ralph McTell

So as you walk around today look at others. Don't worry about the people who have more than you;  look at the people who have less than you. How much would they give for your life?

Thought of the day 09/11/2011

"
The test of a man's or woman's breeding is how they behave in a quarrel. Anybody can behave well when things are going smoothly." - George Bernard Shaw

How bad are you when you are at your worst? Now it may only happen once every few year but when life is falling apart how nice are you then? If you were measured by the person you are at your worst how happy would you be?

Thought of the day 10/11/2011

"Hide not your talents. They for use were made. What's a sundial in the shade?" -
Ben Franklin

Why are some people ashamed of being good at something?

Why is it so hard for some people to take a compliment?

Why do people feel it necessary to put successful people down?

Is it not best for the world if everyone on it does what they do best?

Thought of the day 11/11/2011

"One word frees us all from the weight and pain of life: That word is love." - Sophocles

What is love? There is the sexual attraction we feel for that special someone. The hearts and flowers love. But there is that even more amazing form of love. That love that means you give a stranger a tissue to wipe their eyes or you pick something up for a stranger. The love that allows us to see beyond a person's disfigurement and see the beauty within? That love that will not allow us to stand by and watch another person suffer be it a friend a foe or even a stranger.

Thought of the day 12/11/2011

"
What we think, or what we know, or what we believe is, in the end, of little consequence. The only consequence is what we do." - John Ruskin

"Man cannot run a mile in under four minutes"

"The world is flat"

"Something with a mass can not travel faster then speed of light"

"The earth is the centre of the solar system"

These statements have all been held to be the truth at some point in history. Three of them have been proven wrong. One is currently in question. It took someone to stand out for the crowed and say "I think you maybe wrong". In some cases it is when you try and prove a statement that you start to question it. It takes special people to stand up to the crowed. If you see something that challenges your view of the world how long will you deny it before you stand up and say "I don't think this is correct. "

Thought of the day 13/11/2011

"Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared." - Eddie Rickenbacker

Thought of the day 14/11/2011

"
A single conversation across the table with a wise man is worth a month's study of books." - Chinese proverb

Books are very useful and we should all read more. However there is nothing like hearing the finest minds talking. If we can get to talk directly to them we learn more then we ever thought possible.

Thought of the day 15/11/2011

"Treat a person as he is, and he will remain as he is. Treat him as he could be, and he will become what he should be." -
Jimmy Johnson

If you expect a little more from someone then they believe they can achieve they may just surprise themselves and you.

Thought of the day 16/11/2011

"The important work of moving the world forward does not wait to be done by perfect men." - George Eliot

You are the person who has been chosen to fulfil your destine. The good news is that you are perfectly suited for this roll. The issue lie in your belief in yourself to achieve your destiny and your ability in identifying your destiny. Deep within you there is a small flame and tiny voice leading you on. Be silent and listen. You do already know your destiny

Thought of the day 17/11/2011

"If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything is ready, we shall never begin. " -
Ivan Turgenev

The time is now! This is the moment. The conditions may not be perfect. You may not know all you need to know. There maybe issues that you can not see solutions for. However, your destiny / goal is waiting for you. It is time to take action and start your journey towards it.

Thought of the day 18/11/2011

"You can't build a reputation on what you're going to do." -
Henry Ford

They say talk is cheap. In order to achieve great things you must take action. The good news is small steps are all you need to take. Any progress is better then no progress also there is a magic and momentum in taking small steps. Every step creates a ripple in the universe. This ripple achieves more then the single step

Thought of the day 19/11/2011

"There are two things to aim at in life: first, to get what you want; and, after that, to enjoy it. Only the wisest of mankind achieve the second." -
Logan Pearsall Smith

On the 29th June 2007 the i-phone was released. It was the ?must have' gadget. On the 4th October 2011 the fifth version of the 'must have' gadget was released - the i-phone 4S. How long do people really enjoy and appreciate their ?must have' gadgets. Yes make plans for the future but remember to enjoy now. Enjoy what you have and enjoy the journey you are taking.

Thought of the day 20/11/2011

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. " - Herman Cain

Thought of the day 21/11/2011

"Believe in yourself, and the rest will fall into place. Have faith in your own abilities, work hard and there is nothing you cannot accomplish. " -
Brad Henry

"Hell is the bag of bricks we all drag along with us" The biggest thing holding most of us back are the things we believe about ourselves and the world around. If you say it can't be done then it probably can't be done. However, it you believe in yourself who knows what is truly possible.

Thought of the day 22/11/2011

"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." -
Albert Einstein

Warning I'm going to be mean to make the point here. There is a million pounds and your child's health. The catch is you can only have one. So what do you want  - a million pounds or a healthy child? You can count a million so how comes it suddenly does not count.

Thought of the day 23/11/2011

"
The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes." - Marcel Proust

There are two people that have identical lives. However, one is happy and the other is sad. How can this be if there lives are identical?

When it rains one says "No it's raining I'll get wet" or "How am I going to get the washing dry?" the other says "It's good for the garden"

When the electricity bill comes one says "How can I afford this?" the other says "I wish it was a little less but how great it is to have instant light and heating"

You choose how you see your world!

Thought of the day 24/11/2011

"When you follow your bliss... doors will open where you would not have thought there would be doors; and where there wouldn't be a door for anyone else." -
Joseph Campbell

You are here for a reason. There is a path that you were designed to take. When you find the reason and get on the right path you will fly. So listen to the little voice inside and find the right path

Thought of the day 25/11/2011

"I hear and I forget. I see and I believe. I do and I understand.
" - Confucius

Read this one way and it's about managing gossip, Read it another way and it's about the best way to learn. Maybe it's both.

If you hear something how do you know it's true, how do you validate it?

If you see it, is what you are seeing the whole picture? What is going on out of shot?

It is not until you do something that you full understand it. Watching someone drive and driving are very different things.

So can I suggest you get on and do something?

Thought of the day 26/11/2011

"
Everything that happens is at least one dimension smaller than you've imagined it to be." - Wolfgang Hildesheimer

We all know the story of Henny Penny. The hen who believed the sky was falling in when an Acorn fell on her head. So what major problem in your life may just be an acorn if you could only step out of the situation and see the big picture?

Thought of the day 27/11/2011

"Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better. " -
Jim Rohn

Thought of the day 28/11/2011

"It is never too late to be what you might have been. " -
George Eliot

I have talk a few times this month about your destiny and how life is easier when you are on the right path. The good news it that it is never to late to change course and be the person you have always wanted to be.

Thought of the day 29/11/2011

"Nature gave us one tongue and two ears so we could hear twice as much as we speak." - Epictetus

Carpenters say measure twice and cut once. It's the same statement. Check the information you have before you act. Listen to the whole story before you act.

Thought of the day 30/11/2011

"
Learn to say no. It will be of more use to you than to be able to read Latin." - Charles Spurgeon

It's odd that we spend all month suggesting you're open to opportunity and you stay positive and then on the last day we suggest you learn to say "No". Some of us take on too much we are so positive so helpful that we try and do everything and end up achieving nothing. Focus your power on what is important to you. If it moves you away from your goal it is OK for you to say "No"
